Description:
The cacao tree originated in South America and was a sacred tree for the Mayan and other great cultures! Our cocoa powder is produced organically in Peru!
The fruits are hand-picked and selected so that only the finest fruits are used. The fruit is fermented mainly because the pulp runs off as water, the beans are released and the natural bitterness of the beans is reduced. The beans are then washed in clean water, peeled and chopped into nibs which are roasted and then ground into cocoa paste. The fat (cocoa butter) is released from the paste and the remaining cocoa is dried and ground into fine cocoa powder.
Cocoa powder contains higher levels of antioxidants than wine and green tea.
Cocoa powder contains no known allergens (such as gluten, lactose). It is not handled and packaged in premises with a risk of cross-contamination or where allergenic raw materials are handled. This applies in Peru as well as with us.
The cocoa powder is 100% natural and nothing else is added such as anti-caking agents, sugar, acid, color etc.
GMO free.
Cocoa powder can be used in various drinks, pastries, sweets and also in skin care products.
