Ayurveda recommends rinsing the oral cavity with a specially prepared oral care oil - Gandusha - in the morning after cleaning the tongue and teeth. This method is also known as 'oil gargling' or 'oil pulling'. The oil is swirled around the oral cavity and drawn through the teeth. The oil is then spat out. This process is said to strengthen the gums and teeth.
About Gandusha it says in Charaka Samhita:
"Performing oil gargling strengthens the jawbones and voice, develops the face and gives maximum taste experience of the food... Teeth do not get cavities and become firmly anchored. There is no toothache or sensitivity, and the teeth can chew even the hardest food."
